The day after one of the greatest match played in International cricket, the unreal 400+ chased by South Africa to finally get rid of the 'chokers' tag. Everyone was expecting India to do well, but the dreadful last day at Mohali reminded them of the Pakistan match here, where Akmal and Razzaq played the entire day to save it for the Pakis. This time around it wasn't happening, Munaf striked early, bowling quick and on good line and length. He picked up 3 early wickets of Jones, Plunkett and Hoggard. Then there was a bit of resistance by Hoggard and Harmission who had a good 42 run partnership, but this was not enough and finally Harmission was stumped by Dhoni off Kumble. Young Piyush Chawla finally got his first test match wicket, and that of the England captain when he tried to slog one over. India was set a target of 144, a score which appeared to be small looking at the Indian batting line-up. Wasim Jaffer fell early to Hoggard but they were scoring at a good pace. India were 39-1 in 10 overs when Jaffer was dismissed. Sehwag has been failing since a couple of matches and he needed to put up a good performace, and so he did. Played wonderfully to make his half century and go beyond with a four over backward of point. Dravid gave him good support and reached the target easily. It didn't look like a result was possible after the first two days but the Home team delivered the goods on the last day and taking the 1-0 lead in the series with the Mumbai match to take place in 5 days.
