India wrapped up the match in less than an hour on the fifth morning as Kumble and Harbhajan ripped through the Lankan lower order bundling them up for 249 runs in the second innings. The hosts wrapped up the match by 259-runs and sealed the series 2-0 in its favour. Kumble triggered the collapse in the second over of the day by trapping Maharoof for two. The overnight batsman failed to add to his score on the final day. Harbhajan struck in the next over with Laxman lapping up the catch of Mubarak who managed just 18. It was matter of time after that with Murali cleaned up by his opposite number Harbhajan Singh. The lankan offie managed just three. It was left to Kumble to pick up his fifth wicket in the form of Bandara trapped lbw. It was the spin duo all the way with Harbhajan bagging the Man of the Match award and Kumble taking the Man of the Series trophy. India’s 2-0 sweep means they will now climb to No.2 in the ICC World Test rankings.
