India outplayed by the West Indies PDF Print E-mail
Written by Rasesh

Despite everything what the Indian skipper says, it is the truth. India was definitely outplayed by the WI in the ODI series. Loosing 4-1 to very ordinary team is inexplicable. India claims to be the no.2 team in the ODIs after Australia, but with the performance in the series which just went by they are nowhere in the top 5 i must say.

It is surely the time to bring back the former skipper Sourav Ganguly, his experience and his killer instinct and will to win is second to none in my opinion. He is un argueably India's best captain ever. The problem facing Indian cricket at the moment is the roles that people are facing the team. Infact the lack of roles i may say. Nobody seems to know at what place in the batting order he is going to play, nor do the quicks know if they are going to bowl first change or open. Sometimes it's Mr.Inconsistent Agarkar who opens sometimes its Sreesanth or even Munaf.

The no.3 spot in the team has just become a joke now. It seems that Greg chappel has decided everyone will play there, sometimes its Raina or Dhoni or Irfan or Yuvraj.

The time for Chappel is coming to an end, if India don't win the Test series then it should surely be bye-bye for the Australian and Welcome for the Bengal Tiger!

Lara says " We can beat India " PDF Print E-mail

West Indies captain, Brian Lara has said his side was looking to build up momentum by winning all their matches against Zimbabwe. West Indies has beaten Zimbabwe in all the one dayers and won the series. Lara has expressed confidence that his boys were capable of beating the Indians in the upcoming home series. He said that his team knows that they can compete and beat India as they have done in the past in the West Indies as well as in India.

To me, the statement " We  " can "  beat India ", itself shows how much West Indies cricket  has deteriorated in the last decade or so. Ten or Fifteen years ago, a West Indies team at home would be confident of winning any series with a certain amount of ease. Times have changed for the Windies, with them having to prove that they are still a force in world cricket. The job is not going to be easy against the Indians, who have been in top form winning series after series and the emergence of talents like Dhoni, Raina, Sreesanth, Pathan and Munaf. Along with that come the regular big names like Dravid, Sehwag , Yuvraj.

Soon after the warning issued to Virender Sehwag by the BCCI comes another controversy. Now its the coach Greg Chappel talking about the former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly.

In an interview with Zee, Chappel said that that Ganguly deserved a good farewell and labelled him as a 'wonderful player'. He also stated that the selection of the former captain was upto the selection commitee and he only has a small role to play.

Greg also said that media was unnecessary hyping the issue, that is dead and burried.

Now lets see what the BCCI will do after these comments, did Chappel mean Ganguly's career is over by saying 'he deserves a good farewell'. Well the matter is open for controversy!

BCCI Rule Change PDF Print E-mail

The Indian cricket team selectors are all set to win a three-year term without being re-nominated annually by their respective five zones once the constitution of the BCCI is amended at its special general meeting in Mumbai on June 1.

The BCCI, in its last working committee meeting in Mumbai, had taken a decision to this effect but it needs a constitutional amendment for it to be implemented.

"They are all grouped under the constitutional amendment motions, including the three-year term for office bearers and selectors, without the need to be re-elected or re-nominated every year," Said a source from the BCCI.

There is also another round of speculation going on about the merger of the Women's cricket board in India being merged with the BCCI.
